Smartphone Butterflies

Photographing butterflies is hard enough with a high performance SLR, but with your phone it’s another thing!
A camera phone doesn’t transmit much detail and it’s AF is really slow, two things butterflies don’t have much patience for. So, getting in close and quickly snapping off was key.
I found that previsualing the composition helped me get my phone into the right spot more quickly. Also, knowing how close your phone can focus helps too.
In macro mode, your camera focuses best in the center (at least mine).
Tap to focus, recompose quickly, and snap.
I got off a couple before the swarming gnats made it impossible.
