A New Year for Wedding & News Photography

Wedding photography in 2012 was great. As the first day of 2013 drew to a close, I took the opportunity to start getting ready for this amazing year ahead by making a folder where all the new photographs will reside. This is a new year for wedding and news photography.

And I expect to make that folder pretty full.

2012 was a great year as I officially expanded into a new market for my wedding photography. Prior to that, I was a Miami wedding photographer, capturing those precious moments for clients all over South Florida, from intimate backyard receptions to grandiose rooftop wedding parties.

My first wedding gig in the DC-Metro area was with Michelle & Larry in Alexandria, VA. They say Virginia is for lovers, so I’m sure it’s no coincidence that they would be my first and great fit as a Virginia wedding photographer.

Prior to that, I was still doing weddings in Miami and Fort Lauderdale as well as photojournalism in Washington, D.C. It is great to bring these two places together so that I can bring those skills and experience to brides and grooms up here.

As I did for my brides in the Miami-Dade and Broward County areas, I used my photojournalism experience, particularly in working with Catholic media to put everyone involved at ease. There are a lot of crazy stories about disruptive and even disrespectful wedding photographers out there. Church wedding coordinators don’t like them, priests don’t like them, and everybody knows somebody with an outrageous story.

Not only do I have near-constant experience providing professional images in a church environment, but I’ve also developed friendly relationships with many pastors, bishops, a few cardinals, and the media directors for whichever area I have photographed. They know I am a professional, know the overall “baseline” rules for respecting the space and respecting the ceremony. This has given me the leeway other wedding photographers simply do not get.

So, in 2013 I am continuing to bring that experience, professionalism, and powerful photography to my brides and editors alike.
