Everybody is looking for “the secret” to becoming better at whatever interests them. Those who pine for “the secret” to their job, craft, relationship, etc. aren’t looking for genuine knowledge and education, but are more motivated by instant gratification and fear of hearing the phrase, “A lot of hard work.” This quest for this secret has gotten more commonplace in a world where information is instantly available almost anywhere. Instant answers with little to-no-zero effort in the search — and work — of finding it.

After a decade of photography, I have quickly and repeatedly learned and have been told that there really isn’t a “secret” or “secret sauce” to better photographer or better at anything. Great education, professional gear, and talent help — tremendously at times — but it is the constant practice that is the foundation of becoming a great photographer. It is what will help you bridge the gap between your mind’s eye and what is captured.

Here is a video which tells you what you need to do:

Practice until it hurts. Practice until you fail.
